Music videos can sometimes disguise a less-than-awesome track with flashy visuals and kinetic editing, but it takes a confident creative team to know when to hold back and give the song space to breathe.
Such is the case with director Jacob Rodier's new promo for soulful singer Evenson, Trading Places, in which the artist's personal lyrics and performance take the spotlight in a slowly tracking oner.
Simplicity should not be confused with a lack of ambition, however, as the perfectly timed shot frames a burning stage in the background, creating a striking juxtaposition of chaos against the music's soothing melody.
