Mirroring – an unconscious behaviour in which a person mimics the movements, speech or facial expressions of another – can often be spotted when people are falling in love or just getting chummy.
This promo for the new track Numb, by UK musician, songwriter and producer Elderbrook (aka Alexander Kotz), begins as an affecting portrait of a woman’s loneliness. When she ventures out onto the street, at first the urban buzz around her only highlights her detachment and introspection – until another woman falls into step with her.
She crosses to the other side of the street – is she ready to connect with anyone? Eventually a little mirrored skipping turns into a full scale dual dance with her new friend. It's a nice interlude. After which the woman returns to follow her own path alone. Shame.
