We sit at them, sleep on them, work on them… pieces of furniture all have stories to tell and this elegant film created by TRY, reveals the lives of tables, chairs and more that have been discarded.

Directed by Kavar Singh and Niels Windfeldt through Aparent and set to a poignant reworking of the classic 1985 hit from Simple Minds, Don’t You (Forget About Me), the film advertises The Life Collection 2022 – an actual collection of IKEA furniture found in people’s homes and bought back by IKEA because the owner no longer need it.

Be that office desks of a company that went bankrupt during the pandemic, a wine rack where the owner stopped drinking, or a vintage 70s kitchen dining set the owner of which has passed away.

The furniture was collected and sold back at IKEA's new second-hand stores.

IKEA Global Marketing Manager Roberto Giannone commented: "Our new second hand stores are needed because life happens, and we needed a more sustainable way of treating our furniture."
