It's not exactly the most glamorous of professions, mining. Aside from the obvious pitfalls (pun intended) of working so far beneath the surface, images of soot-covered helmets and death-defying drops kinda predominate the mental picture.
Well prepare for that picture to be eradicated, as this gloriously-shot spot for mining company Hochschild managed to make the experience of journeying underground look like deleted scenes from the best sci-fi movie you've never seen.
Created by Lanfranco & Cordova NY and filmed with Fértil director Santiago Chávez, Beneath The Surface manages to travel to four different mines in South America (three in Peru and one in Patagonia) and achieve movie-like presentation under extremely difficult weather conditions, both above and below sea level.
