Directed by Leve Kühl through UPPERFAST, this comedic yet heartfelt seasonal spot for LGBTQ dating app Grindr playfully taps into the truth that not every relationship origin story is suitable for sharing over Christmas dinner.
The film drops us into the slightly stilted dining-room conversation of a young man and his partner's parents, as they ask the inevitable, dreaded question: “How did you meet?”
As the couple cobble together a family-friendly tale about catching eyes across supermarket aisles, Kühn whisks us through a series of hilarious vignettes depicting the protagonist’s more risqué encounters, until their genuine relationship blossoms. Tender, honest and funny, the film is a heartwarming and realistic depiction of modern queer dating.
