If you like your sausages and egg served up in a shoe, helicopter hair, dying your armpits green and getting tattooed by a small dog, you probably live in Shoreditch and view this ad as documentary rather than satire.
Produced by Biscuit Filmworks, this hilarious spot, There’s More to Barclaycard, features the queen of cool herself, Grace Jones, navigating her way through a stupendously surreal world of dotty trends and hopeless hipsters trying just too hard to be edgy.
In her typically irascible, no-nonsense style, Jones makes the point that she doesn’t need her payment methods to be pointlessly cool.
Mocking the trend for buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) finance options, the spot reveals how Barclaycard offers more as a safer, traditional bank.
Shout out to colourist Hannibal Lang for scrumptious rainbow hues that set off Jones’ trademark – and genuinely cool – black garb.
