It may be unfashionably non non-binary to note, but, as insurers know, statistically women drivers are far less likely to cause accidents, seriously damage a car or “end up in a ditch”.
Created for Gjensidige insurers by Anorak, and directed by Andreas Riiser through Bacon, this smart spot puts a spin on a possible mansplaining scenario by outlining the skills of female motorists.
Depicting older men in a repair shop telling younger men how to drive could very well have been a setup for a bit of toxic masculinity. However, the twist comes as the men advise that the key to good motoring is being able to Drive Like a Woman, ie. assess risks, stay focused, maintain control and generally follow the maxim “don't be an asshole”.
