Five Questions from Quarantine: Mery Cordoba
International Executive Producer at Fight Films, Mery Cordoba, tells us how keeping to a schedule keeps her in the moment and how she hopes an eco-friendly future is within sights.
What's your self-isolation set-up at the moment?
I try to keep my old routine, this helps me not miss the life I had a month ago as much. So I wake up every morning and the first thing I do is one hour of pilates or yoga, then I have a healthy breakfast to face the working day in the best way. Fortunately, we are still working from our homes, bearing in mind that we must be respectful of the moment we are living, but still, we're 100% still an active working company. We're currently bidding a couple of projects to shoot when all this ends, in addition to working on renewals and amazing post production projects!
It's lockdown; aside from your family, which four people, past or present, would you most like to be quarantined with?
As I said before fortunately we are still working, so I would be more than grateful to have my team next to me personally and not virtual.
We need entertainment, what's your favorite short film?
I’m a huge fan of Hotel Chavalier, directed by Wes Anderson.

You've completed Netflix. And Amazon Prime. And Disney+. It's on the hard stuff; board games. What do you pick and why?
Definitely Monopoly!
On a serious note, how do you think this situation will impact you individually, and the industry as a whole?
In this moment I think it's difficult to imagine it, since we don’t know how long this will last, and what the consequences will be.
My hope is that every person comes out of this with a personal growth and the ability to reconnect with others, and with nature, with much more conscience and respect.
If this happens, I think it will definitely have a positive impact in the industry. In the way we relate to each other and the world, the we impact ecology, and in the messages we send. In addition to an ecological message, each day the Fight Films team talks about how to make more sustainable production projects. Although we are already an eco-friendly production company, we believe that you can always do a little more for the good of the environment.
On the other hand, I think it is important not to forget to be grateful if we and our loved ones are healthy.
