Amongst such evergreen numbers has to be Silent Night, a Christmas carol so ubiquitous it spanned performances in front of Austrian Emperor Franz I, the trenches of WW1, and even sent to space for the crew of the Skylab 4 Space Station.
Telling the story of its humble origin from Austrian priest Joseph Mohr and music teacher friend Franz Xaver Gruber in 1818, Jung von Matt Donau's festive spot for Erste Group is a lovely little biopic.
Directed by Arts & Sciences duo Daniel & Szymon, and with some lovely post work from Black Kite Studios to bring it all together, this gentle fable deserves anything but silence.
