Directed by Mohamed Chabane and Théo Jourdain, through Frenzy, this cinematic film for Else’s song Ocean transcends music video conventions with a strong narrative exploring connections between climate change and the plight of displaced peoples around the world.
Against the background of a toxic dystopia, in which both land and sea have been ravaged by environmental decay, two enigmatic half-human, half-aquatic brothers navigate the treacherous currents of a world besieged by pollution and totalitarian control.
It was shot at Dunkirk, which provided the ideal location of a desolate shoreline ravaged by industrial contamination. One of France's largest industrial zones, the region has the highest CO2 emissions in the country.
