A loving husband and wife raise ducks on their farm in the countryside and decide to try for a baby. Sounds like a sweet story, right....? Wrong.
Directed by Elie Chapuis through Helium Films, this brilliantly-crafted yet skin-crawlingly creepy stop-motion animation follows a couple, Vladmir and Olga, as they try to start family, but things get weird fast when Olga’s motherly instincts lead her bring home an injured bird.
Despite the film’s dark, grey tones and minimalistic sets, which add to a gradually increasing sense of unease, Chapuis pays meticulous attention to small details. From the character’s unsettling facial expressions to grizzly Freudian dream scenes, this film will leave images lingering in your mind long after the viewing experience.
