Dugan Gundelfinger asks what’s in a name?

Previously known as Dugan O'Neal, Epoch director Dugan Gundelfinger has marked his official name change with this comedic short film tapping into his childhood and family history.  

Gundelfinger always wanted to reclaim the name but felt held back by the huge amount of admin this would involve, but a recent psychedelic experience led him to finally go ahead with the change.  

Created over just a few days, the film comedically blending his dad’s archived work, family photos, clips from his own projects and stock clips, as well as a song by his brother Wesley Sol, the film playfully retells the events that led to the director’s very personal revelation. 

"It’s relevant to share that there has been a major shift in my personal life over the last 6 months, and I am clearly living through a death and rebirth moment — Rising from the ashes, with one of the weirdest names ever." Gundelfinger explained. "It suddenly all made sense, or as though it had already happened. These days I find myself going with the flow. Once I committed to the name change, I felt like making a film explaining why would be fun, as well to help with answering the inevitable “Why though?” questions."
