In the six decades since its release in 1964, American musical writing duo the Sherman Brother’s whimsical track for Disney, It’s a Small World, has captured the hearts of children and adults alike across the world.
In celebration of the song's 60th anniversary, The Walt Disney Company has released this heartwarming film titled The Last Verse, created by adam&eveDDB and directed by Henry-Alex Rubin through SMUGGLER.
In a moving blend of rare archival footage, photographs, and stories spanning sixty years, the film takes us on an emotional journey that captures the not only the song’s enduring cultural impact, but also the lasting legacy of the Sherman Brothers, serving as a heartfelt tribute to the late Richard Sherman, who passed away in May 2024.
In a moving closing shot, the film introduces a brand-new verse that was written by Richard Sherman for the 60th anniversary and shared with Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger in the summer of 2023.
