Director Jeff Feuerzeig Joins Green Dot Films

Now repped through Green Dot Films, director Jeff Feuerzeig is a Sundance award-winning, documentary filmmaker.

Green Dot Films announced that documentary film and commercial director Jeff Feuerzeig is now a member of the company’s roster of directorial talent.  Feuerzeig has worked for a wide variety of high-profile clients including Budweiser, Delta Airlines and IBM.  Feuerzeig recently wrote and directed the “Google+ Pride” campaign, consisting of five short-form documentaries, for Google and Pride Toronto. His latest spots for VICE and the Samsung Galaxy Camera feature Instagramers with huge followings and was shot in Milan, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Madrid, Sydney, Paris and San Francisco.  Another recent campaign for VICE and Smirnoff profiled cultural influencers and was shot in Bangkok and Mexico City.

In addition to helming a large body of commercial projects, Feuerzeig is perhaps best-known for his documentary films. In 2011, Feuerzeig directed "The Real Rocky" for ESPN Films acclaimed “30 for 30” series, a 60-minute non fiction film about boxer Chuck “The Bayonne Bleeder” Wepner, whose 15-round fight with Muhammad Ali inspired Sylvester Stallone’s now-iconic movie. Another character provides the inspiration for "The Dude," an 18-minute USA Network documentary about Jeff Dowd, the real-life basis for the main character in the Coen Brothers’ The Big Lebowski. Also released in 2011, The Dude was a Staff Pick on Vimeo and a viral sensation across the internet.

“Non Fiction film is the most exciting canvas to paint on. I’m thrilled to be able to bring my unique style of documentary filmmaking to the Green Dot gang,” said Feuerzeig.

“Jeff is one of those guys who was born to do exactly what he’s doing.  He’s an accomplished storyteller who taps into the essence of a person and their story from the outset. He treats his subjects with respect and heart in order to seek a deeper truth.  He’s exactly what you want in a director and best of all he knows how to tell a story in thirty seconds, five minutes, or in an hour and a half,” said Darren Foldes, Executive Producer at Green Dot Films.

Feuerzeig’s film The "Devil and Daniel Johnston" won the best direction award for documentary at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. The film about a schizophrenic musician and outsider artist has garnered a deeply committed world-wide cult following since its release by Sony Pictures Classics in 2006.

Feuerzeig also directed the half-hour film "Jon Hendricks: The Freddie Sessions," which was broadcast nationally on PBS, and Half Japanese: "The Band That Would Be King," in which he indulges his passion for punk and alternative music.

“Jeff is the real deal.  He's an exceptionally talented filmmaker who is able to tell stories in an insightful and powerful way.  I admire his smart, honest approach to filmmaking and willingness to jump in and get his hands dirty. It’s clearly reflected in the people/subjects of his films and I know his creative vision and skills will resonate with a lot of brands.  I'm incredibly excited to collaborate with and be challenged by Jeff's passion,” said Rich Pring, Executive Producer at Green Dot Films.
