Depaul UK’s stories hit home
The homelessness charity launches a campaign that mimics the Big Brother reality show format to convey a darker reality – that there are currently at least 129,000 young people in Britain with nowhere to call home.

Created by Publicis•Poke for Depaul UK, the two TVCs have been launched alongside the return of UK TV show Big Brother, and appear at first to be the upbeat audition tapes candidates submit to the series selling themselves as good housemates.
As the films progress, we see the youngsters’ dire situations – they are not aiming to get into the Big Brother house, they just need any house.
Directed by Margot Bowman through Merman Branded, the films feature two 'candidates' Marcus and Lisa, who represent the thousands of young people aged between 18-24 facing homelessness this winter.
The campaign promotes Depaul UK’s flagship mission Nightstop, which asks volunteers to open their homes to young people who need a safe place to stay for the night.
Nightstop operates through different communities and charities in more than 23 locations across the UK. In 2022, 621 young people were provided with safe accommodation across the network, with 7,522 safe nights accounted for.
