Dave gives us a stand-up festival in an ad break
As a continuation of their Be the mate you’d want campaign, the channel called upon a host of familiar comedy faces to tell jokes about friendship, all the while encouraging viewers to get in contact with a pal who may be in need.

Last year saw Dave dedicate an entire ad break to encouraging viewers to contact a mate who might be suffering from poor mental health. We loved the concept and its execution, so chatted to them about it.
This year, continuing the message of reaching out to a friend in need (and offering precious TV time to do it), the channel have once-again freed up an entire commercial break, but have brought along a few more famous faces.
Presenting the world's first Comedy Festival in an Ad Break, Dave celebrated International Friendship Day on Tuesday 30th July during Taskmaster, and instead of adverts and TV trailers, aired funny anecdotes about friendship from top comics including Lou Sanders, Natasia Demetriou, Alex Horne and Phil Wang. Developed with the UKTV in-house team and smartly using audio over animation, the film features puns and one-liners aplenty, as well as a neat moment to pick up your phone and text.
Managing to be both entertaining and giving viewers space to be the mate you’d want, the impressive line-up and poignant message mark another excellent execution in a campaign that continues to impress.
Just in case you're wondering, the full line-up of comedians is: Ahir Shah, Alex Horne, Dane Baptiste, Darren Harriott, David Mumeni, Ed Gamble, Elf Lyons, Jamali Maddix, Jessie Cave, Lou Sanders, Maisie Adam, Natasia Demetriou, Phil Wang, Pierre Novelli, Sindhu Vee, Stevie Martin and Zoe Lyons.
