Darling Films announce the arrival of Emmy-nominated, New York based director, writer and creator Yon Motskin to Darling Films for commercial representation.

At the intersection of fiction and documentary, his work is known for its bold visual style, cinematic storytelling, wit, and deeply human characters. Motskin began his career as a theatre actor and photographer, and now directs high profile films and series for global streamers and premium clients, frequently collaborating with both A-list talent and real people.

“From the very first conversation with Yon I was blown away by how smart he is, an incredibly accomplished Emmy nominated director who made a name for himself in cinematic documentaries. His docuseries for Netflix and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment Encounters shot across Zimbabwe, Fukushima, Texas and Broad Haven – Wales is fascinating viewing. Talking to Yon about a potential commercial project which echoed Encounters I knew immediately that he just gets it, I am so excited that Darling Films are going to be bringing Yon into the world of advertising. He’s also just a really, really delightful human.” said Kat Downs, Head of New Business, Executive Producer.

Other recent projects include Age of A.I. with Robert Downey Jr.; the critically-acclaimed Dirty Money (NETFLIX), with multiple Academy and Emmy winner Alex Gibney and Fisher Stevens (Beckham, Succession); the stylish, Instagram-age “con artist extravaganza” Generation Hustle (HBO MAX); The Family (NETFLIX), starring James Cromwell; and How to Fix a Drug Scandal (NETFLIX).

"I’m thrilled and honoured to join Darling Films and their talented roster of directors, and can’t wait to bring my cinematic and character-driven approach from films and docs to their extraordinary work.” adds Yon Motskin.

In scripted, he is directing the feature Don’t Mind Me, a satirical sci-fi love story. He wrote the feature Ethel for 2929 and Emmy-winner Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men, Handmaid’s Tale), and has directed T.V. for NBC, FOX and USA. He launched his career with The Cutman, an award-winning short produced by the legendary D.A. Pennebaker (Bob Dylan’s Don’t Look Back). The film premiered at Sundance and was invited to screen at Tribeca, SxSW, Cannes Cinefondation, Lincoln Center and over 40 film festivals worldwide.

Motskin is developing a comedic spy thriller and a film about a sex icon.
