British rock band Coldplay has unveiled this absolutely stunning animated promo for their latest song feelslikeimfallinginlove, directed by BLINKINK’s Raman Djafari and a global team of 15 guest animators.
The mixed-media masterpiece transitions seamlessly between styles, following a continuous narrative of two souls falling in love, taking taking the form of new characters in each segment and style. The piece is brought to life by a vast range of skills and techniques including stop motion, 2D, 3D & digital painting, oil pastels on paper, watercolour, and laser cut felt, and feels like a truly magical collaborative effort.
The transitions between these varied segments required meticulous planning, demonstrating the team's incredible attention to detail and dedication. Each animator initially created the start and end of their scenes, enabling the creation of 16 bespoke transitions that smoothly shift from a pencil-drawn 2D section to a stop-motion sequence of two crabs slow-dancing.
