As a man walks into the Tesco Mobile Supermarket, he’s greeted by phones, fresh from the oven, prime cuts of cellphone upgrades, a frozen contracts aisle, and a pick-your-own data plan. With ingenuity and a tongue-in-cheek commentary about the hassles of cell phone plans, agency BBH turns a strange outlier “what’s a supermarket doing running a mobile network?” into a strength.
The piece was produced by Thomas Thomas Films, who helped create a world that is both strange and familiar, integrating supermarket staples with a mobile twist. The use of phone screens to simulate baked goods is in particular very clever.
