“Did that satellite just turn our friend Joe into an Easybuck’s Slyder snack from Chicken Licken costing only 30 bucks?” asks a bemused cable guy staring at the budget snack box that seems to have taken Joe’s place in the world.
Created by Joe Public, this trio of comic ads for South African fast-food chain Chicken Licken depict bizarre situations that invite the viewer to speculate on the nature of reality.
Deftly directed by Adrian De Sa Garces through Egg Films, the beautifully acted and crafted films introduce us to various absurd situations.
Along with the satellite guy/Slyder transformation situation, there’s a large bear in an occasionally airborne truck enjoying a box of popcorn chicken, and a security guard only interested in guarding her hot wings from incredulous bank robbers who stop, mid-heist, to chat about the unbelievable 30 bucks meal deal.
