Leaning heavily into the 'American classic' ethos and managing to create an emotive and engaging tale in the process, Commonwealth//McCann's Mrs Hayes for Chevrolet is a lovely piece of standalone narrative.
Following the titular character as she attempts to start her ‘57 Chevrolet Nomad, the film soon spirals into gentle recollections of her life intertwined with the car's; detailing her marriage, her position in the community and the chosen family she made along the way.
Anchored with some lovely performances and a great sense of tone from division7's Joshua Kissi, this sweet-natured and gorgeously shot mini-movie is both stirring and sympathetic without being overly saccharine.
“Nearly everyone has a Chevrolet story," comments Steve Majoros, Chevrolet CMO, "and we feel fortunate to have genuine connections with so many. We call this our holiday card to America.”
Last year, the holiday commercial resonated so deeply with viewers, so the decision to create another spot that was rooted in nostalgia and community was an easy one. Visual director Joshua Kissi came on board this year with such authenticity and intention behind every detail. We hope viewers love the story as much as we do.”
