Award-winning director and successful YouTuber Dan Mace heads this new spot for South African food delivery app Checkers Sixty60 in which an unusual rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town is created.
The South African director has an audience of close to 800,000 subscribers on YouTube and, here, he takes one of the successful series on his channel, Seeing Sounds, and applies it to advertising.
Seeing Sounds sees Mace recreate famous tracks using a variety of everyday objects (he has remade The Weeknd's Blinding Lights with a brick, and Justin Bieber's Peaches with actual peaches) and now he has revved up the festive season with a remake of Santa Claus is Coming to Town with Checkers Sixty60 scooters.
"When I heard that the food delivery brand was going to be dispatching 2,500 scooter drivers of joy this festive season, I jumped at the opportunity to turn our collective frowns upside down," said Mace. "My team at Joe Productions and I composed this track and the associated video because we refuse to go gentle into that silent night."
"South Africans are some of the most resilient people in the world, despite so many of us having had our holiday plans scuppered," he continued. "This project is dedicated to putting the 'festive' into festive season, and a smile on the faces of South Africans who need it most at the end of another crazy year."
