Focusing on the vacation experience, famous places, and hidden gems, Director Tyler Measom crafts a cat-and-mouse story that shows off Osceola County.
Finding Whelmed, which is a whopping 27-minute long release, follows a travel documentary crew as they go in search of their missing show host. They travel to his last known location in Kissimmee Florida, and start their search in his open hotel room. A wristband leads to a fan boat tour, leads to a bar, leads to a kayak trip...well, you get the picture.
The full spot is impressive and scenic. While there are plenty of points where excitement or overstimulation could take over (it is Florida, and there is a theme park within a stone’s throw of any city center), the film takes a restrained approach, focusing on nature, the casual feeling of relaxation, and the way that everyone seems pretty unconcerned about a missing man.
It’s funny, really, the way that Finding Whelmed is so casual about its subject and narration. It’s great, but not so great that you hate it at the end of the day. Zambezi has done a nice job pulling in the reins and letting the laid-back brief take control of the film without creating tension or pulling in too many thriller styles.
