For some, navigating the year’s toughest month requires going dry – as in dry white wine, dry cider, dry martini, or maybe a combo of all three in a numbing winter cocktail.
Other brave souls make it through January with admirable sobriety. BBC Creative’s short film for the broadcaster depicts how people can distract themselves from imbibing by taking up a range of hobbies.
In a fun example of mixed media the spot sees animated alcohol-free pastimes added to boozy BBC iPlayer clips from shows such as People Just Do Nothing, Gavin & Stacey and MasterChef.
If that all looks a little bothersome, audiences could simply swap the drink for the remote and spend January with BBC iPlayer.
