Thoughtfully crafted by director Onda through ProdCo, this symbolic and stylish seven-minute film for fashion brand Barriers Worldwide showcases items from its new collection, Barrera.
In warm, bold vignettes, the slow and dreamlike film invites viewers into a cinematic world inspired by Black cultural narratives. Filmed on 16mm amid the stark deserts of Joshua Tree, California, Barrera merges performance art, rich cultural echoes, and a sense of quiet resilience.
"We tapped into the desert’s rawness and the tactile warmth of shooting on film to shape the performance,” Onda explains. “Rooted in family and guided by Black cultural narratives, the concept threads a story through metaphor, leaving space for anyone who watches it to shape it into their own meaning.”
