In its seventh year, Apple and Media Arts Lab's annual Chinese New Year film always delivers a slice of short-form that is not only narratively satisfying, but also demonstrates many of the latest kit's snazzy features.

This year's offering, Little Garlic, is no exception, telling the story of a young girl battling with her insecurities and, in the process, developing some remarkable shapeshifting abilities.

Directed by Radical Media's Marc Webb (no stranger to tales of super-powers, having helmed The Amazing Spider-Man films), the film manages to skirt on the fantastical helped by the performance of Chinese star Fan Wei, and acclaimed writer Pan Yiran; with the tech-demo side not ignoring artistry thanks to Cecile Zhang, director of photography, and Li Anran, art director, using key iPhone 15 Pro Max features, including 5x optical zoom, Action mode, and Cinematic mode.

The film is accompanied by an entertaining BTS video, further demonstrating the abilities of the tech.
