This new campaign created by Shape History for Amnesty International highlights the deterioration of human rights taking place in the UK.
To capture the attention of a British audience who might be unaware of the scale of the problem domestically, this powerful film, directed by Catherine Morshead, seems at first to be about a new star-packed, must-watch, gritty drama called Before Our Eyes, which tells the tragic tale of a homeless mother and her baby.
But, as Amnesty's UK ambassador Olivia Colman ultimately reveals, this is no drama, but a shocking slice of 'reality TV' reflecting how much access to safe housing, healthcare, food is challenged in the UK. These are basic human rights, under threat in our communities.
Since 2019, at least 34 homeless children have died in temporary accommodation. Thousands more are admitted to hospital with conditions linked to their standard of living. Millions are living in poverty, unable to access fundamental necessities.
