Brought together by a mutual respect for the ’Bikes up. Knives down’ movement, London cycle gang Bike Stormz is filled with passionate inner-city teens with a love of bikes.
In this intimate and emotional documentary, This is Freedom Road, You Are Here director Alex Tiernan introduces us to the crew as they embark on an exciting field trip with mentor, Mac, whose frustration with the lack of opportunities for the group has led him to seek a route out of the city.
All taking a foray out of the capital for the first time, the film focuses less on the cycle skills of its heroes and more on the emotive journey alonmg the way - in particular a campfire scene that leaves not a dry eye in the house.
Initially an idea for a client that was pulled during the pandemic, the film, made in collaboration with adam&eveDDB, is a perfectly pitched piece, containing a message of acceptance that is well worth hearing.
