This time of year finds breaths bated around the country as we await the John Lewis spot, but there’s also fevered festive anticipation for the latest adventures of the national treasure that is Kevin the Carrot.
Titled Feast of Football, Aldi’s social media teaser for its upcoming campaign is a footie-themed treat, created by McCann UK and directed by Psyop directing duo - Todd + Kylie (Todd Mueller and Kylie Matulick), through Riff Raff, that's a re-[football]boot of the classic Nike spot Airport.
The teaser sees everyone’s favourite root veg family – Kevin, his wife Katie and kids, Baby Chantenay and Jasper – gathered at the airport waiting for a flight to Paris.
Kevin is reading a newspaper and expresses his disapproval of a football tournament being held in December. Screwing up the newspaper, he then tosses it away creating an impromptu football which some familiar sporting heroes use for a kickabout.
There are fun puns aplenty as Ronaldi passes the ball to ‘Messy’, who dribbles messily. There’s also Macaroony, Beth Swede and Marrowdona. And a passing plane marked Peasyjet.
