Released on the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearance, and commissioned by the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre (EHRAC), In Limbo sheds light on the haunting reality faced by those who have experienced enforced disappearances.
Following a protagonist as she fights to find her loved ones, NOMINT directors Afterman create a starkly defined world; attention-grabbing in its elongated style and proving a fine canvas onto which the story can be painted.
“We used a limited primary color palette to contrast the two worlds all families are pulled between," explain Tsvetelina Zdraveva and Jerred North (Afterman). "Minimalist compositions of starkly silhouetted characters and environments create the ominous atmosphere of a deeply painful and exhausting journey.
“Enforced disappearances are deeply traumatic. In the same instant a loved one is vanished, their family and community are permanently scarred as well, pushed into a never-ending quest for justice. It is impossible to comprehend what each victim is forced to endure and their relatives can never abandon the search to find them.”
