A phone slides along a track, passing through studios and sets in this wonderful music promo for Taylor Bennett out of Doomsday.
As the singer/rapper dances on a phone that moves through sets as he goes through his day. Bennett appears in line for a club with wonderfully detailed bulletin boards behind him, he’s in the club itself, with a small neon sign and disco ball rotating above, he even goes into a cardboard recording studio, and then out through a crowd of blackout paparazzi. The DIY charm of Don’t Wait Up lies in the details and inventive workarounds for scenes, that in any other format would feel mundane, but are brought to life with hand-made props and designs.
"Textures were printed off and then applied to the cardboard structures to make the sets feel life-like. In addition to this, 1:12 scale miniatures were also sprinkled into each scene to add even more realism. We directed Taylor’s performance remotely from Oklahoma + Seattle and then edited that footage into the video playing on the phone throughout the video," say directors Lamar + Nik, giving a little more insight on how the video came together.
