Whatever you think a techno music video is supposed to be, Baby turns and does the opposite, with spectacular style and a joyful celebration.

Soaring over mountain vistas and abandoned pink buildings, all with the panoramic perspective of a bird in flight, Baby has created an immersive, simple, and striking world. The footage, shot by Director of Photography, Andreas Aguilera Morillas with drones is hypnotic and fascinating. There’s a cadence to the way that we move through this video, across oceans, into snowy forests, and through buildings. The way the music moves through the film is also very well done, showing it as an accompaniment to the natural sounds, rather than a replacement.

Entrancing, fascinating, and joyful, when the film ends, it’s because a pair of video bloggers have stopped their flight, landing on a rocky beach, giggling and laughing. They speak to the camera, delightfully informing the audience to tell them where to fly next, before laughing and turning the camera off. This little narrative twist is fun, fascinating, and a perfectly comic way to end a video that is mostly set apart from people.

Directed by Joanna Nordahl from New-Land London production studios, Baby is a marvelous piece of work, captivating and thrilling, executing shifts and transitions beautifully, without ever breaking pace. The editing and slight effect when moving from place to place is exceptionally beautiful. The moment where we follow a hawk in the air is such a complete, wondrous sense of filmmaking, it’s hard to believe that it’s real.
