Is Martin Short the hardest-working man in showbiz? Well, if your evidence is Martin Short’s Short Day at Work, the new parodic spot for Wealthsimple from Austin agency Preacher, the answer certainly leans towards the negative.
Sending himself up wonderfully for the film, Short presents a diminutive diva who's day-to-day seems more akin to a toddler being led around a playground.
Directed by Biscuit's Aaron Stoller, the film's genius (aside from the puntastic title) is to let the comedian have fun with the man-baby character he's been refining for decades; garnering big laughs from some choice line readings ("too close") and the innately funny image of a 70-year-old being bridal-carried by a behemoth.
