These moving films, What's Love, Part One and Two, highlight how crucial the reaction of family members is to the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ+ youth.
Created by LA agency RPA and sensitively directed by Station Film’s Lena Beug, they are set to an almost unbearably poignant cover of What’s Love Got to Do With It?, performed by Rose Cousins.
The first part depicts how, for LGBT youngsters, their first heartbreak isn’t about unrequited crushes, or not getting a prom date – but the deeper pain of having parents not understand or support their true identities.
Top pop fact: The song, made popular by Tina Turner’s 1984 recording, was written by Terry Britten and Graham Lyle and originally offered to Cliff Richard. It ranked No. 309 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

In the heart-warming second film, the same individuals depicted as suffering from lack of acceptance are shown being given the love and recognition they craved from their parents.
