Equinor gets curious
In Martin de Thurah's new campaign for Equinor we are introduced to an initiative which aims to close the gap between the curiosity children are born with, and the science and technology careers that will need curios minds.

This new campaign for Norwegian energy company Equinor examines the time between childhood and the moment you choose what to study, wondering why a lot of a people's early curiosity goes missing.
Equinor calls it the STEM gap, and its new film opens there, with the question every teenager is asked: "What are you going to be?". Directed by Martin de Thurah through Bacon and created by Anorak Oslo, the 90-second film is a series of small, inquisitive moments, or times of reckless bravery that were catalysts for something much bigger.
Two boys aim to get a tractor working again; a young girl uses a soldering iron for the first time; another young boy examines underwater creatures. The spot asks us to ask the right questions; what is it for? How does it work? What if I do this? What's the worst that could happen?
Shot by de Thurah and DP Daniel Voldheim in low, overcast Nordic light, the film is tactile and patient, and it trusts small gestures to carry the emotion that all the curiosity inside of us needs a place to manifest, that somewhere being Equinor's initiative, STEMgapet.no.
