This poignant short documentary, produced by Pi Studios and directed by Kaj Jefferies and Alice Lewis for the Dutch file transfer service WeTransfer, continues the company’s four-part series Work in Progress, which offers insight into the creative process.

Beautifully shot on 16mm film, the haunting and highly personal work features Swedish indie-pop artist Lykke Li reflecting on monumental changes in her life – including the birth of her daughter and the death of her mother – and how her creativity helped her to heal. Music from Li’s latest album, so sad so sexy, provides a suitably dreamlike and melancholic backdrop for the intimate film.

The first film in the Work In Progress series featured a collaboration between Björk and artist/musician Jesse Kanda; the second the pan-Asian hip-hop collective 88rising.
