Hove-based anti-plastics charity, Plastic Free Pledge, has released this awkwardly funny film to publicise the risk to our oceans.
Written, directed and produced by Tony Burke through Dead Bird Film, the two-minute film starts off sweetly enough, introducing a lonely nine-year-old boy, who tries to find friends by throwing a message in a plastic bottle into the sea in Brighton. However, the story takes a somewhat jarring turn when a council litter picker – played by Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels actor Jason Flemyng – intervenes to teach the lad an important lesson about marine ecology.
