Online retailer Not On The High Street believes everyone deserves a thoughtful gift this Christmas - especially those who put up with mortally embarassing or irritating relatives.
Created and produced in-house by Mother London, the campaign consists of three tongue-in-cheek, 20-second spots narrated by comedian and certified national treasure Dawn French.
In Love Letter, an awkward teenager frantically attempts to stop his younger sister from reading out a billet-doux in front of the family while Meatballs sees an annoying grandma going goo-goo over her grandchild on Skype and holding up the IRL family festivities. The funniest film of the bunch, though, follows a little girl proudly showing off her 'Mr Snowman' picture on dispay at a school art exhibition, which uses some innovative materials - namely her mum's sanitary towels.
"Thoughtful gifts are there for the ones who really deserve them, not just everyone," says Larry Seftel, creative director at Mother. "You’ve got to really love someone to let them get away with making public art out of your sanitary products, or reading out a love letter that’ll stay in memories for many years after the love interest has disappeared."
The campaign, which launched yesterday [Sunday 5 November] will run across TV, digital, online and social media.
