Age UK, in partnership with agency Manning Gottlieb OMD and content creators Drum, have released two short films starring British TV institutions James Bolam and Miriam Margolyes that aim to help those left alone at Christmas.

Under the tagline, ‘No One Should Have No One at Christmas’, the campaign brings to light new analysis from the charity showing that 1.2 million older people in England are chronically lonely and have been coping with isolation for years. In the films, Bolam and Margolyes dramatise the real-life stories of Roy and Janet, who are supported by Age UK’s telephone befriending service which provides weekly friendship calls. The Charity is urging people to pledge their support to help it deliver such services.

The campaign launches with a three minute showcase of the film during the TV show Good Morning Britain and continues throughout December, with short films aired as Christmas proceeds with, for many of us, a frenzy of family and friends get togethers and socialising.
