Language-learning app Babbel launches witty spots about awkward interlingual encounters.
Mining the rich seam of comedy to be found in folk mangling foreign languages, W+K London and director Sam Hibbard of Somesuch, have created two short, sweet TVCs that kick off the campaign today in the UK, and ten other countries worldwide, with the tagline 'speak the language like you've always wanted to'.
Our favourite, Tiny Whale, tells the story of a hapless numpty trying to connect with a winsome French waitress. Employing atrocious Franglais, our hero attempts to explain to her that he shares her ability to notice the strange little things in life, such as ketchup squeezy bottle that sounds like a small whale singing – in fact it sounds like a protacted case of flatulence but hey ho...
