Sonia Presne and Romain Demongeot have created this powerful and effecting PSA warning of the dangers of the highly addictive and dangerous illegal drug krokodil.
Desomorphine (dihydrodesoxymorphine) aka krokodil, is a manmade derivative of morphine that has become an epidemic on the streets of Russia. The drug earnt its name due to the skin around the area it is injected turning it a green grey colour with a scaly appearance, like crocodile skin.
Krokodil, which is used as a cheap homemade alternative to heroin, causes, among many other problems, blood vessel damage, gangrene, skin and soft tissue infections, pneumonia, liver and kidney damage and is directly responsible for the deaths of countless users.
As a warning of the effects of the drug, the pair created this PSA to promote their new non-profit Prévention-Krokodil. The film, which features a raft of Russian iconography, follows a user as he explains the effects of the substance from euphoric trip through to nightmarish vision of pain and suffering.
