The European migrant crisis has been named one of the worst humanitarian issues for generations. More than a million people have made the journey across the Mediterranean which has created divisions among EU countries over how best to deal with resettling people.
With that in mind, Johnnie Walker has released this moving film celebrating the people of Lesvos, a small Greek island, who despite not having much themselves gave everything to help the recently-displaced refugees. In recognition of their selfless acts, the people of Lesvos were nominated for a Nobel Prize.
Created in partnership with Anomaly, Ode To Lesvos forms part of the brand's Storyline film series which "gives real people a voice to tell their stories of progress." The moving piece was helmed by Talal Derki, who is a Syrian exile himself and director of the Sundance-winning Return to Homs.
As part of the campaign, Johnnie Walker is supporting Mercy Corps, a leading global organisation powered by the belief that a better world is possible.
