Here’s something sugary to take away the sour taste of a Monday morning. Breaking today, this spot created by Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam for Milka chocolate, tells the touching tale of a little girl finding an ingenious way to set about saving her dad’s job as the lost property guy at a railway station in the fictional Alpine village of Lilaberg.

Directed by Nacho Gayán through Stink, its lush visuals, perky soundtrack, delicately quirky tone and beautifully detailed depiction of rural life in bygone days all add up to a film that's charming when it could have been – with its unrelenting sweetness – a bit on the mawkish side.

Under the tagline ‘Tenderness is inside’, which launched in April, the spot is part of an integrated campaign and marks Mondelēz International’s first major foray into China’s chocolate market – they’ll now produce 12 Milka products in China using milk imported from the Alps.

In October there’ll also be a digital drive and social activations in partnership with e-commerce giant Alibaba, and a VR execution created by W+K Shanghai, more news of these to come…
