A Day In The Life Of Domenico Massareto
TBWASão Paulo's innovation director gives shots a peek into a less-than-typical day in LA.
As the innovation director of TBWASão Paulo, Domenico Massereto is normally based in Brazil's largest city. Today, however, he's trading the sprawling metropolis for palm trees and blue skies in Los Angeles, California, where he's collaborating on a global project. Below, he shares his journey from Pacific to Pacifico. Fasten your seat belts...
08.00: So. This is the Pacific from the window of my hotel bedroom. A glimpse of everything that California represents: beach, palms, sunshine... all kinds of things I'll not be able to see 'cause I'll be locked in a windowless room all day long.
08.30: Before getting to the office a light local breakfast: huevos rancheros. I learned a little spanish when I was young and knew that "huevo" means "egg". "Ranchero" apparently means "trying to kill you". Say hi to rice, black beans, sour cream, tomato, lettuce, white corn tortilla and THREE free range eggs covered in cheese, chili salsa and guacamole.
09.30: At the agency: the amazing TBWAChiatDay Los Angeles. The office itself is way more awesome that any idea I can create today. Like trying to digest the huevos rancheros wasn't enough of a challenge.
09.42: Yep. Lee Clow's office. The Man. The beard, actually. Wondering what's with the bed? Apparently you can book it on Air Bnb if you're eligible to be an intern.
10.00: Do you want more cool stuff? What about this table for a meeting room. I guess it's for board meetings.
11.30am: Aside from Brazil, we had Australia, France, Finland and Japan on the project. These guys are amazing. I'm not sure this guy is old enough to be legally working, though. There's nothing much I can share on the actual work, but we stayed locked in this very room for 8 hours.
15.05: On a restroom break, I stopped to snap a pic of this cute fella. Doesn't it look like it could be in a Pixar movie?
17.30: Ok. Work is done. Really proud of what we accomplished. Time for a drink with all the team before we leave the office.
18.00: A taste of the LA rush hour. We were here for a while. At least Ephrem, our Uber driver, has great musical taste.
18.30: Does anyone know what time is it now? Actually it was too early for tequila, so we decided to go for a little walk before tasting more local cuisine.
18.45: I love you. Bang.
19.30: The sun sets...
20.00: And the night begins. And so we end the journey, from Pacific to Pacifico. I will definitely pray for more days like this. Oh, and have lots of water tomorrow morning. Besos.
