Name That Lock Says Saatchi & Saatchi
To make the pronounciation of Antwerp's Deurganckdok-lock easier, a new campaign urges the public to get involved.
"
The world's biggest lock is currently being built in the Port of Antwerp, but as of yet its name has not been decided.
Currently known as the Deurganckdok-lock, it is expected to be completed by March 2016.
It's current name is not easy for international use, so Saatchi & Saatchi has created the Lock without a name campaign to find a new and more practical name for the lock.
As of October last year, the port launched an Everything is possible campaign, which reflects the local attitude and represents the lock's ability to create a sustainable and safe solution for trade. The campaign included bi-weekly stories of the lock's progress.
If you have an idea for the lock's new name, enter it online and watch it fall down a digital waterfall installation (below). If you don't have an idea but wanted to see what has already been entered, click here.
All names will have 'sluis' attached to them - which refers to the water channelled toward a water mill. If you look below, you may be able to make out a faint 'sluis' written in the water installation.
In the next few weeks, a jury will select a shortlist of names allowing the the campaign to resume on social media, where the winner will be decided.
The winner will be in with a chance to win an evening cruise for 30 in the Port. For more information, visit the website, which is sadly only available in Dutch.
