Have you ever settled down to watch a movie or a TV series and then got up five minutes later to do something?

Maybe you forgot to turn the light off. Maybe you need to respond to that text. Or maybe you want to order your favourite takeaway to accompany your movie marathon.

Well fear not, now your Netflix binge can be disturbance-free with a new switch designed to maximise your chilling and viewing experience.

So, what’s the catch? ...That you have to make the switch yourself...

With a little guidance from Netflix, some prior experience with a soldering iron and apparently a “basic understanding of electronics and programming”, it seems anyone can learn how to wire a switch.

The basic instructions will wire the switch so that it turns on Netflix and dims the lights, leaving culture vultures to lie back, relax and enjoy.

While the more complicated switch allows electronic experts to be creative and install innovative functions like ordering takeaway food, silencing phones and connecting to the internet… all with the click of a button.

Netflix is encouraging its users to get thinking and come forward with other wacky project ideas that it could design. So far, users have suggested Netflix sending its subscribers positive affirmations and lining up episodes for when customers arrive home from work.

So, get thinking what you'd like to see and what ideas you could submit. For more information about the project, click here.
