Netflix, a popular VOD service, has unveiled its debut film festival.
Launching from mid-October and spread out across five days, the festival will consist of 15 smaller free events each focusing on a different topic – that allow viewers to choose what they see.
Inspired by Netflix content and featuring TV shows, films and documentaries, the festivals created by Ogilvy & Mather and WeLoveArt will be held in four separate venues ranging from the absurd to the abnormal, and some even illegal locations.
Examples of the festival themes include Festival of romantic movies that might come in handy on a first date (poster below); Festival of the best TV show episodes with a smelly cat; and Festival of movies and series where the cops respect everything but the law.
Each of the 15 events has posters individually designed by artists and illustrators including Tyrsa, Jeremy Schneider and Shotopop, which give viewers a taster of what to expect ahead of the event. Gif versions of the poster will be posted to social media next week.
The festival is expected to close with the screening of Netflix’s new Oscar-tipped drama Beasts of No Nation helmed by Cary Fukunaga, director of True Detective.
A website will also be unveiled next week, where you can reserve your seating preferences.
