Creative agency VCCP London has launched a new campaign for MacMillan cancer support that builds on the charity’s proposition that no one should face suffering the disease alone.

With the first of two new TV spots launched today (Monday 12 January), both aim to show two people dealing with cancer, David and Claire, in their individual lonely places.

In Blizzard (above), David appears lost and alone in a harsh snowscape when suddenly a Macmillan nurse appears, asking, “Are you OK?”, her voice bringing him back to the present time and place. He appears visibly comforted – the nurse representing all the Macmillan services in place to support those who are dealing with cancer.

The second spot, Mist, will be launched in March and sees a character named Claire stranded on a misty moor. She is just about to give up, huddled on a rock in the rain, when a friend appears, again asking, “Are you OK?” before Claire finds herself in a warm bustling café, talking with her friend. The end voiceover asks people to reach out and support someone they know with cancer.

Blizzard is produced through Smuggler and directed by Jaron Albertin.
