What’s the best ad campaign you’ve seen recently?

I think both the Terre Des Hommes Sweetie and Anar anti-child abuse campaigns are original, important and actually a little mind blowing.

As a TV person, I normally speak TV. And there is without doubt a lot of great TV work out there, but neither of these are TV or particularly ‘traditional’. And I like that.

What website(s) do you use most regularly and why?

This oneIt’s a brilliantly immature response to the occasional irrelevant request. Particularly useful on shoots.

What work do you think will win big in Cannes this year?

Terre Des Hommes. And deservedly so. It’s quite incredible and actually has great social conscience so it gets my vote.

What’s the most recent piece of tech that you’ve bought and why?

Walkie-talkie watches for my son. They looked fun. And they are.

Facebook or Twitter?

Tinder.

What’s your favourite app on your phone?

Addison Lee. Naturally.

What’s your favorite TV show and why?

Currently, Game of Thrones.

We’re in Cannes; how important is it to reflect on the past and examine the future?

If I bought the last round, both are significant…

What film do you think everyone should have seen and why?

Once Upon a Time in America. Epic storytelling, beautiful score and De Niro. Three or so of the best hours you’ll ever spend.

Where were you when inspiration last struck?

Commuting.

What’s the most significant change you’ve witnessed in the industry since you started working in it?

I can only really answer this in relation to my department and what I see day to day. Surprise, surprise; budgets and timings. It’s impossible to promise something good with no time and no money. One or the other is fine, but both together is a real pickle.

If there was one thing you could change about the advertising industry, what would it be?

The loss of value. Good things, good people, craft, skill, ideas and confidence come at a cost. We all understand that when we are extending our houses or buying a family car… a loft conversion at half the price in half the time feels a bit risky, no?  I wouldn’t put the kids up there.

What or who has most influenced your career and why?

My VCCP work family has been a hugely influential bunch for me. I think its important to find an agency that suits you’re personality, and I have. It’s a happy home.

What do you most look forward to about coming to Cannes?

Rose. Lunch. Rose. Rose. Rose. And that guy who shat his pants on the Carlton Terrace.

Tell us one thing about yourself that most people won’t know.

I can turn my feet back to front.
