Agency and TV channel create new three-part TV series to demonstrate the car’s performance.

To show how Shell Helix Ultra can perform in some of the most extreme environments in the world, Shell has partnered with the Discovery Channel to create a three-part TV series through agency JWT London, in which Hollywood stars paired with professional drivers and ventured into Siberia, the Taklamakan desert in China and the jungles of Malaysia.

In the first episode, actor Tom Hardy, from The Dark Knight, was paired with F1 legend Mika Salo in Siberia. The second sees actor Henry Cavill from Superman team up with MotoGP champion Neil Hodgson as they travel to China’s Taklamakan desert in temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius. The final episode sees the return of F1 driver Mika Salo, this time pairing him with star of The Pianist, Adrien Brody. They face the Johor jungle in southern Malaysia and experience local wildlife, torrential rain and mudslides.

The campaign, airing in 75 countries, also has mobile apps, a Facebook game and a YouTube Channel, with behind the scenes footage and details on the vehicles.
